The AWS International Water Stewardship Standard (AWS Standard) defines the process for achieving good water stewardship. It was first released in April 2014 in the UN CEO Water Mandate Meeting in Peru. On 22nd March 2019, the AWS Standard 2.0 was launched following a two-year public consultation and review of the original Standard. Following the steps and criteria will lead to improved performance in five areas: good water governance, sustainable water balance, good water quality status, healthy important water-related areas and safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for all. Sites are audited against criteria and indicators by credible, third party assessors independent of AWS or the site. Certified sites can therefore make credible claims about their water stewardship activities and performance.
Interested in learning more about water stewardship. AWS will offer 2 and 3-day training programs in China during May 22-24. The programs are intended for people implementing water stewardship at a site or working with implementers as consultants or conformity assessment bodies. This training will be conducted in Chinese (Mandarin).
